Vice President Operations
$300 million Global Industrial Manufacturer
Southern USA
Confidential Executive Search

Overview

I have begun a confidential executive search for our client’s new Vice President Operations.  The company is a leading manufacturer of highly specialized industrial products. Sales are approaching $300 million globally and the company manufactures for all markets (both OEM and after-market) in its single facility located in the Southern US.

Because this is a confidential search, I am not able to disclose our client’s identity or significant details of the opportunity until you and I have established at least a preliminary mutual interest.  Please do not be put off by this restriction and review the information that I am able to present.

Position Overview

Under the leadership of a strongly Lean-thinking CEO, the company has already achieved major breakthroughs in operational excellence and has created a solid, systemic Lean approach to doing business. Our new VP Operations must be an aggressive, inspired Lean thinker as well, with demonstrated Lean transformation experience.

This is a manufacturing company, primarily machining and complex assembly operations. Our VP Operations must offer a broadly experienced career path of manufacturing leadership, and it must be current or very recent.  Resumes that present primarily non-manufacturing or consulting experience will not be considered.

This is a relatively small company and every leader here must balance time and energy to deliver on the important long-range planning and strategic issues, while also never neglecting the inevitably less important but urgently burning fires each day brings.  Our new VP Operations must demonstrate a solid track record driving board-level as well as in-the-trenches problem-solving effectively. Did I mention hands-on?

This is a manufacturing company. So our new VP Operations must bring to the table extensive functional knowledge (in this case solid credentials in production, engineering, supply chain, quality, Lean, etc.), as well as that special “I own it, all of it” mentality.  Because it’s never just manufacturing’s problem or shipping’s problem, or a customer service problem. As a senior leader in this organization you are accountable for the success of the business, not the success of the operations silo.

Finally, our client is a private equity portfolio company and these owners have committed to building a highly-successful, sustainable, and profitable business for the long-term.  This is NOT a buy it – strip it – flip it deal.  Therefore, we seek an individual who wants to build his or her career for the long haul as well. Growth, profitability, personal and professional success.

Please contact me directly in whatever way is most convenient for you (I’m personally conducting this search). If you choose to phone me I’d like to suggest that our initial talk will deliver more value for both of us if you’ve already introduced yourself via email with attached MS Word or PDF resume.
