Our client was one of the world’s leading manufacturers of aluminum consumer beverage packaging products. The company, with sales at the time our work together approximating $3 billion, had 21 North American plants, and extensive European & Asian operations as well.

The company was aggressively pursuing strategic initiatives to enhance its global competitive position, including a top-down-driven transformation to lean manufacturing. Until recently a privately held concern, the company just completed its IPO. These factors, combined with a senior management team’s commitment to creating long-term value for customers, shareholders and employees, made it a particularly attractive enterprise in which seasoned Lean practitioners could make their impact visible

The company was subsequently acquired by British packaging powerhouse Rexam plc, which in turn was acquired by Ball Corporation.
