At the time of our search GE Europe Operations was based in Brussels, Belgium, and comprised businesses exceeding €30 billion sales with over 70,000 people, much of this built through recently completed acquisitions.

The company had long been an advocate of systematically and dramatically improving how it does things, and this focused regimen allowed it to consistently exceed its customers’ expectations. As a Six Sigma pioneer our client deployed and rigorously engaged Six Sigma tools and practices, successes subsequently emulated around the world.

To further advance this already world-class leadership position in competitive and cost-focused markets, our client had launched a major implementation of Lean manufacturing on the production side of its various businesses under the banner of its Global Production System (Toyota Production System-based).

The next step in this Lean Enterprise strategy was to extend LEAN to the SG&A (selling, general & administrative) “back-office” functions across European Operations.

We were retained to headhunt an aggressive, entrepreneurial and “Lean thinking” Lean Process Leader, European Operations. The role of the Lean Process Leader was to take primary strategic and tactical responsibility for driving a system of LEAN principles, practices and techniques across the company’s non-manufacturing activities in Europe. Specifically, almost 50% of the company’s revenue in Europe derived from financial services (commercial & consumer finance, insurance, equipment management services).

We were able to present exceptionally qualified candidates within 29 days and finalized an offer with GE’s selected candidate by day 61.
