Rockwell Collins is a global Fortune 1000 company with headquarters and manufacturing operations in the U.S. and facilities located throughout the world. The company is recognized as a world-class provider of aviation and information technology for governments, aircraft manufacturers and airline customers. The company’s unique balance between government and commercial customers allows it to maintain stability, performance and growth in this volatile marketplace.
In 1998 the company began its “Lean” journey, a process so customized and unique that it’s actually been trademarked. This Lean Enterprise initiative is a compilation of the best in world-class continuous improvement (Toyota Production System, Six Sigma) going beyond manufacturing to target everything from order capture, design & development, manufacture & test, and service & support.
The company’s Lean Enterprise approach has been a great success. In the past two years the Lean Enterprise effort has resulted in all-time high customer product acceptance and on-time delivery rates in excess of 99%, inventory reductions of over 40%, and lead time reductions better that 50%. But, much more can still be done on this Lean Journey…
The Corporate Director, Lean Enterprise & Lean Manufacturing role reports directly to the Sr. Vice President, Operational Excellence and is responsible for leadership in the planning and execution of the company’s Lean Enterprise Electronics and Life Cycle Value Stream (LCVS) efforts.
